Orchestra Amadeus Joseph Jones, conductor Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) Symphony No. 6 in a minor, 'Tragic Immigration policy has been at the forefront of our national dialogue for the last few years, and the family separation policy which came to light earlier this year has led to a renewed sense of outrage. Orchestra Amadeus presents this concert to raise money and awareness for this tragic issue. The orchestra will perform Mahler's 6th symphony, nicknamed 'the Tragic.' Written for a huge orchestra and filled with drama, beauty, uncertainty, and deep pathos, the symphony--composed by a man who once described himself as 'Thrice homeless' and immigrated to the United States late in his life--is an exploration of the meaning of hope, the search for it, and the many ways it can manifest itself.
