Old-World Italian
Cuisine Meets New York City
From acclaimed chef Jonathan Benno, this casual Roman-inspired trattoria offers a stylish and social dining experience with a selection of stuzzichini (shareable plates), antipasti (appetizers), contorni (sides), and entrees.
Chef Benno reinvents classic recipes using fresh, seasonal ingredients for cuisine reflective of his earliest food memories, extensive travels through Italy and professional experience honing the craft of traditional culinary methods.
Inspired by classic Roman trattorias, the team wanted to find a name that paid tribute to The Eternal City. The word Leonelli refers to the significance of the lion in Roman history, where it has been depicted to symbolize strength, courage, leadership and ‘the majesty of the Roman people.' There are three lion head figures lining the façade of the historic Evelyn Hotel in which Leonelli is located, which brought the idea for the name full circle.
