UPDATED REVIEW (3-Stars): The Evelyn management saw this review within minutes of it being posted and called to have a conversation. They offered to refund this fee if I removed this review from Google. Makes me wonder how many other reviews have been removed from Google after the hidden fees were disputed/refunded. I cannot entirely remove this review from Google, but I can say that I am giving them an extra star for the follow-up and refund. ORIGINAL REVIEW (2-Stars): Very nice hotel but poor business practices (hidden fees). I had prepaid for the hotel at booking. Upon check-in they acknowledged that "you prepaid and all we need to collect is a refundable deposit for incidentals". The room was nice. But upon check-out they said "all you owe us is a $42 facility fee". I asked what a facility fee was for and they said it was to have access to all the hotel amenities like the gym... which I never heard about, saw, or used. Given that our prepaid price was $179, the additional $42 is significant. Bait and switch is just a bad business practices and the reason I won't stay here again.

Very satisfying Not bad Very good

Pro : very good location, very walkable to anywhere, the hotel staff are perfunctory courtesy. Cons : overall the interior hotel is dark, make us feel depression & gloomy, elevator is very dark, the old fashioned style toilet in the room has problem : we heard the water keep running refill the toilet trunk for the whole 2 nights we stayed there, squeaky bed. We will find a better hotel when we visit NYC again next time.
