This is our new ...

This is our new go-to place when we visit new york! We like the mid century design, the location is perfect for us, a convenient walk or taxi to the theatre district or even SoHo. The people here are amazingly nice and helpful and the rooms are comfortable. The lobby bar is a greta spot to grab a cocktail. We try to opt for the suites as we feel the extra space is worth it. The gym has a Peloton bike which is a bonus!

I booked this hotel ...

I booked this hotel via FedRooms. I loved how quirky the hotel was - the musical shower tiles, the lamps changing each floor, and the interesting wall art in each room. We loved the heated bathroom floor and how convenient the hotel's location is to everything in Manhattan. A few small mistakes started to add up however. I booked the room a few months in advance and wrote in the notes that we were visiting for my husband's birthday and that due to his height a king bed was preferred. But I'm guessing that either whoever booked my room didn't see my notes, or the notes did not transfer from the FedRooms booking site. We ended up in a very cramped queen bed room. We weren't informed of the complimentary breakfast, which would have helped us save some money. It wasn't listed on my booking page, so perhaps it is dependent on where the booking takes place. My booking said that we had internet, but we weren't given anything to log into wifi. And while I am very grateful to the customer relations manager Tiffany for going above and beyond to make my husband's birthday extra special with a gift of champagne and a delicious pastry from the place next door, I felt like I had to remind people a number of times to make sure everything went well. I left a note during the reservation, mentioned it at the front desk when we checked in, sent emails, and called Tiffany. I felt the front desk was getting a little annoyed. One elevator was broken but quickly fixed. The elevators themselves aren't noisy. The bells and doors opening were actually quiet, and the thicker carpet and designs of the staircases helped block a lot of noise. There were doors by the elevators on our floor, but I don't know if we were allowed to close them. The doors of the hotel rooms closed loudly though, as most guests just let the door close instead of quietly turning the handle and closing the door that way. Perhaps it's also door/lock design though. There is no refrigerator in your room, but the front desk will store whatever you need in their refrigerator downstairs. I booked the room for me and my husband, but there was just one robe in our room. I understand NYC has some tiny rooms, but we couldn't leave our suitcase open on the floor and walk around it. We managed but navigation was a bit snug. I very much appreciated the complimentary water and people opening the doors for us! The bartenders and people who held open the doors were awesome too.
